I can make pickup rings for just about
any guitar you'd like, as long as you can supply me with a
template (unless I already have it).
A word on
"Archtop"
pickup rings.
Please
understand that I can't do these anymore unless the archtop is flat enough for a
set of flat bottomed rings. My rings are solid material and not hollow like the
flimsy manufacturers, so they won't "bend" around the top to follow the contour.
I've tried to have customers send me "templates" of the radii of the archtop and
while it does work sometimes, other times it doesn't because the template wasn't
accurate enough.
Here's an
example of how solid these are. Here is a custom ring I did for a customer that
wanted to put a Bill Lawrence in an older Charvel that had the oversized rings
that came from the factory. Naturally it would have looked ridiculous in the old
ring because there would have been so much space all around the pickup.
Here
is the top of the ring:
Here is the bottom.
Notice how it's
not hollow in the ring? It's
a solid part that won't warp, bend, or break.
It even has clearance for the springs!
And
here it is installed.
These
are available in many different styles and colors. Please have look around!
Please note, if ordering any rings with the larger inside
radius, please add $2 to the actual ring amount.
For Example:
This Jackson Charvel ring ($14.00
each)
With the larger inside Radius (additional
$2.00 for each ring)
Equals:
$16.00 each
Material
Thickness Options
Rings can be made from a
1/16th of an inch up
to 1/2"
thick and
angled as well to
meet the neck angle requirements for proper string alignment.
While this is not always
necessary, some players would not even consider a pickup ring that
didn't have this option.
Prices will vary for different
materials so please ask if you need thicker and / or angled rings
for your particular guitar.
Rings are available in black, gray, or faux "Carbon Fiber"
plastics or if you're interested in getting colors for your rings, I can do
aluminum anodizing for you.
Here is a color chart of available aluminum anodized
colors but please keep in mind, this is a reference chart and colors will vary a
bit.
If ordering black plastic rings, unless otherwise
specified, you'll receive the satin finish.
Please note: Unfortunately due to problems with
anodizing polished rings, the only available finishes will be the
brushed or satin finishes.

see or understand, please don't hesitate to ask-
The prices you see below in the
pickup charts are basically a 3/16ths thickness ring unless stated
otherwise.
These fit the
standard size humbucker routes that were found on many production guitars such
as Jackson and Ibanez and can also be upgraded into Bill Lawrence or
just larger inside radii to "hug" standard open coil type pickups.
Sometimes
manufacturers such as Jackson would use pickup rings from companies like
Dimarzio, Bill Lawrence and Seymour Duncan so any info you can give me about
your guitar would be most helpful in determining which type you need.
With the larger inside Radius (additional
$2.00 for each ring)

Hello and thank you for checking out my pickups. As a 30+ year
veteran of playing, collecting, and restoring 60's Thunderbirds I
realize that there
is a BIG need for vintage style chrome T-Bird pickups because they are so
scarce. And NOTHING looks or sounds like a 60's T-Bird pickup!
At over $500 used (if you can
find them) I set out to create a repro that looked exact, sounded great,
and was a lot cheaper than a used original.
After much planning and countless hours of making prototypes to get
it right, we have created the product you see here. We are very proud of
how
they came out. The covers are the exact width and length dimensions as the
original 60's T-Bird pickups (3 5/8"x 1 9/16") and are available as
either a
complete ready to install pickup, or, as an empty cover. Duncan SSB4's or
EMG HZ 35 passive internals are currently available.
Most any other 3 1/2"x 1 1/2"
pickup should be able to be fitted to the cover. Contact me with any
questions. The complete pickups are 3/4" tall and will fit in your 60's
or
70's Birds with no routing. Empty covers are 3/4" tall and are also
available in a 1/2" tall version (60's stock height). The 1/2" tall
cover
can be sent to Duncans Custom Shop to be loaded with original repro 60's
internals. What you would have is a 'brand new' 60's T-Bird pickup! The
last
time I had one made to fit my cover it cost $160 including the back plate
and sounded fantastic. You have lots of options with these!
PRICING: Complete ready to install Duncan SSB4 or EMG HZ 35 passive $275.
Empty 3/4" or 1/2" chrome cover $185. Prices include factory wiring
diagram,
mounting screws, foam, shipping and insurance to the lower 48. Mail me for
Int'l shipping quote.
I have made every effort
to keep the prices as low as possible and still make this viable for me
to invest the time and money into making them available. Materials,
quality triple chrome plating, and the fantastic precision machine work
are first rate but very costly. They are made entirely by hand. The
results are worth it and it's
what it took to get these done to this level of quality. At roughly half
the price of a used original, I feel these represent a great looking and
sounding alternative to a 'real' T-Bird pickup. These are a drop in
replacement for your beat up or non-working originals and are perfect
for your custom Warmoth or Fenderbird projects!
ORDERING INFO: These are made to order but I usually have stock on hand.
Mail me for current 'in stock' inventory. Paypal and Money Orders are
fine.
